Visiting Sue

Sue Lane contemporary jewellery maker and designer.

I am often asked why I don’t have a gallery that is open to the general public and choose to work from my own purpose built jewellery making studio and operate "by appointment only". There are several reasons why:

I design and make every piece of jewellery myself in my studio. This needs space, uninterrupted time and much concentration. By using a “by appointment only” method I can ensure that time is keep clear to work on commissioned pieces and concentrate whole heartedly on the all important making aspect of the job.

But most importantly, when clients book an appointment to visit me they have my undivided attention (and there is absolutely no obligation either). I can mock up size samples for you, show you stones and metals and discuss all the options available to you. This is often done over a cup of tea and a biscuit and takes as much time as needed. You can park right by the door, bring family, friends, children or dogs - more the merrier.

I do open my studio throughout the year (sign up to my newsletter to be the first to know), so you can just arrive and peruse my jewellery at your leisure. However, as is so often the case several clients may turn up at the same time, so you may be waiting whilst I chat to others (but with plenty tea and biscuits available of course).

I want to make your visit to me as relaxed and welcoming as possible and ensure you are not waiting around.

I can’t hold a stock of every product I have online, it just impossible. However if a client books to see me, we can have a chat prior to arrival; and I can be sure to have the piece made for you to try or at the very least some silver samples. I can prepare to ensure your journey is not a wasted one.

I love the way I work. I can give the time to make jewellery when needed and then time to clients when they need me too. It seems a happy balance.

Ring sizing

Sue makes rings to the size your select when ordering. If the ring does not fit, then she will re-size the ring free of charge (once only) providing:

  1. You (the customer) pay £9 to cover Royal Mail Special Delivery costs for returning the ring to you (can be paid by cheque or back transfer).
  2. You (the customer) ensure it's returned within 14 days of delivery.

Please contact Sue before returning a ring for a re-size; it is so useful to have a discussion to help gauge how much adjustment is needed.

Please note: rings must be returned via Royal Mail Special Delivery and opting for the appropriate insurance option to cover the cost of the item. Sue Lane is not responsible for the delivery costs of returning a ring for re-sizing or for lost or damaged rings whilst in transit. For more details, please read our Returns Policy.

Sue will happily resize, refinish or repolish the ring at any time after the 14 days have expired, but at a cost based on the time needed to fulfil the work which Sue can quote before you return the ring.

Not sure of your ring size?

If you are not sure of your ring size, please contact Sue. She can arrange your order and then post out a free ring sizer to you. You then simply call or email with the measurement.
