Visit Sue Lane in her jewellery studio

Visit Sue Lane's contemporary jewellery making studio in Herefordshire

I am often asked why I don’t have a gallery that is open to the general public and choose to work from my own jewellery making studio and work "by appointment only". There are several reasons why:

I design and make every piece of jewellery myself in my studio. This needs space, uninterrupted time and much concentration. By using a “by appointment only” method I can ensure that time is keep clear to work on commissioned pieces and concentrate whole heartedly on the all important making aspect of the job.

But most importantly, when clients book an appointment to visit me they have my undivided attention (and there is absolutely no obligation either). I can mock up size samples for you, show you stones and metals and discuss all the options available to you. This is often done over a cup of tea and a biscuit and takes as much time as needed. You can park right by the door, bring family, friends, children or dogs - more the merrier.

I can’t hold a stock of every product I have online, it's just impossible. However if a client books to see me, we can have a chat prior to arrival, and I can be sure to have the piece made for you to try or at the very least some silver samples. I can prepare to ensure your journey is not a wasted one.

I love the way I work. I can give the time to make jewellery when needed and then time to clients when they need me too. It seems a happy balance.

Hi Sue,
Thank you for your quick reply, I should like to say how nice it was to meet you & your husband & the welcoming cup of tea. You have so many lovely designs & I’m so looking forward to wearing my new rings. Thank you for all the information & look forward to receiving the samples. Take care. BC (04/03/2024)
Hello Sue,
I really enjoyed my visit on Friday - I was like a kid in a sweetshop with so many lovely things laid out to view when I arrived! Well done on making sense of my rather confused and emotional views on what to do with my inherited stash of rings and broken scrap. I admire your patience, and look forward to seeing the sketches of the replacement items to keep me going until the real ones are ready. Best wishes, JI (21/01/2024)
Hi Sue,
It was lovely to meet you and your husband this morning. Thank you so much for accommodating our early arrival and providing us with refreshments. It was a privilege to visit your workshop and to meet the person who is going to design my ring. We were thrilled with your suggestion to incorporate my wedding ring in the design; such a clever idea. It was exciting discussing the design options with you that will result in me having a unique ring. It was great to meet such a creative person. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best Wishes, E&M (24/05/2023)
