What is jewellery commissioning?
How the commissioning process works
Jewellery commissioning is a collaborative way to create a bespoke piece that’s designed entirely around you. Instead of choosing something ready-made from my website, you become part of the design journey from the very beginning. You can share the elements of my signature style that you’re drawn to, and I bring them together while sourcing a selection of stones for you to choose from.
I use sketches, images, and conversation to shape your ideas into a one‑of‑a‑kind piece of jewellery. This can be done online via Zoom or FaceTime, or you’re welcome to visit my studio in Herefordshire or meet me in London.
The process is personal, thoughtful, and creative. Together, we’ll craft something meaningful to you while staying true to the aesthetic that defines my work.

Wedding & engagement ring commissioning
You will wear your engagement and wedding rings for many years, so they should feel completely right for you. Any of my designs can be commissioned and adapted to suit your preferences, whether that’s choosing a different metal or finish, adjusting the band width, or selecting the number and type of stones.

Frequently asked questions about jewellery commissioning
Can you use my own gold and stones to make one of your designs?
I certainly can! You’ll find full details on my dedicated jewellery remodelling page, along with a blog post that explains the process of reworking your gold in more depth.
Can you source a stone for me?
Yes! I source gemstones and diamonds for many clients. I can arrange for a selection to come into the studio and will carefully choose the best options that suit your design and budget. I’ll then present these to you so you can choose your favourite. If you’re able to visit the studio, you can view them in person; if not, I can send clear videos and photographs by email or message to help you decide.
Can I supply a stone for you to use?
Yes. However, I always recommend chatting with me first to make sure you don’t buy a stone that won’t work with the design you have in mind. It’s worth shopping around, and if you’re able to compare a wide selection you’ll quickly see that some stones are far better than others, even when the price and stated quality appear similar. Please don’t feel pressured to buy the first stone you see online; over the years I’ve seen stones of very low quality that clients hadn’t realised were unsuitable. I’m always happy to offer guidance.
How long does a commission take?
Once the design is confirmed, including the finger size, the making process usually takes around 7–10 weeks, depending on the complexity of the piece.
How do you ensure the finger size is correct?
After we’ve agreed and confirmed your design, I’ll create a silver mock‑up and post it to you. This sample will match the dimensions and finger size of your final ring. I ask that you wear it for a few days to make sure it feels exactly right. You can return the sample to me for adjustments as many times as needed until it’s perfect. Taking the time to get this stage right is always worthwhile, as some commissions cannot be easily resized later.
Can you resize my commission after it is made?
It may be possible to resize your commissioned piece, depending on the design. I just ask for a small contribution towards the cost of the work. Using ring samples to get the sizing right from the outset usually means resizing isn’t needed, but finger sizes can change over time. If you ever need an adjustment in the future, we can chat through the options.
How much does it cost to commission a piece of jewellery?
The cost of commissioning a piece of jewellery varies depending on the materials you choose, such as platinum, gold or silver, the type and size of any stones, and the complexity of the design. You can get an initial sense of pricing by browsing my online shop, as it reflects the level of craftsmanship and materials used in my work.
The best way to get an accurate quote is simply to get in touch. We can discuss your ideas, preferences and any inspiration you have, and I’ll guide you through the options. If you have a budget in mind, I’m always happy to work within it.

What makes a good jewellery commission?
Jewellery commissioning works best when we can take our time to chat through your ideas without rushing the process. Some clients arrive with a clear vision and can describe the elements of my style that appeal to them, which is a great starting point. Can you replicate another jeweller's design?
No. I don’t recreate designs by other jewellers or brands. Commissioning a piece with me means creating something original that reflects my own distinctive style.
Do commissions need to match your existing work?
I only take on commissions that align with my own design style. Your final piece will be unique, but it will always incorporate elements that sit naturally within my collections.

Commissioned aquamarine and diamond stacking ringset
This commission began when my customer got in touch after sadly losing her wedding and engagement rings. She was looking to create a new set that felt just as special, while exploring a slightly different direction in design. After visiting my workshop to try on pieces and talk through ideas, we settled on a stacking ringset in 18ct yellow gold, featuring a soft blue aquamarine paired with diamond. The result is a contemporary take on a classic combination, designed to be worn together or separately.
Bespoke handcrafted platinum & 18ct yellow gold diamond looped double band ring
For her silver wedding anniversary, my client asked me to design a single bespoke ring inspired by her existing engagement, wedding and eternity rings. I handcrafted this looped double band ring in platinum and 18ct yellow gold, setting her own round brilliant diamond. The gold, platinum and additional diamonds were supplied by myself, creating a refined, contemporary design that combines elements of all three of her original rings. As my client was unable to visit my Herefordshire workshop, the ring was designed remotely, and is an example of how commissioning can bring new life and meaning to existing jewellery.

Gold stacking ringset with blue sapphire and diamond
My client discovered a stacking diamond platinum and gold ringset in my collection and asked for a bespoke version featuring a sapphire instead of a diamond. I sourced a curated selection of sapphires in her preferred tones, and she chose the perfect stone for her custom design. She was thrilled with the finished sapphire ringset, and I’m now creating a third made‑to‑measure ring to nestle between the two.

Platinum and sapphire ring commission
For this bespoke jewellery commission, my client spotted one of my platinum and sapphire rings on Instagram and asked if I could create a custom version to complement the handmade rings I’d previously made for her. Having worked together before, she trusted me to tailor the design so it would sit beautifully alongside her existing pieces.

Gold, platinum, diamond and sapphire stacking ringset
My client reached out to explore commissioning a bespoke gold, platinum, diamond and sapphire stacking ringset for a special birthday. She’d always felt her original engagement‑ring diamond was a little small, so we designed a new set featuring a larger diamond paired with a beautifully chosen sapphire. She loved my platinum and gold stacking ringset but wanted a three‑band version tailored to her. After several Zoom consultations, I sourced a selection of sapphires and diamonds for her to choose from. Once each element was handmade, we finalised the exact stone placement before soldering, and I posted sample bands to confirm sizing and fit. The finished ringset arrived on her birthday and she absolutely loved it.

Platinum and gold double band ring with diamonds
My client had long admired my platinum and diamond two band ring and wanted a bespoke version featuring a larger diamond. Our conversation stretched over several years, paused by her having an operation and the Covid period, but taking the time to refine every detail meant the final design was exactly right for her. The finished platinum and diamond double‑band ring was everything she’d hoped for.

Rose gold wedding rings commission
After discovering my work while searching online search for wedding rings, my clients visited the studio to explore ideas for their bespoke designs. By trying on a range of handmade examples, we refined two styles that suited them perfectly, including choosing their preferred diamond sizes and placements to make each band truly personal. When the finished rings arrived, I received an immediate phone call to say they were ‘over the moon’ - a wonderful moment to share.
Yellow gold and pear shaped green sapphire ring
I had the pleasure of making a bespoke ring for my clients, after they fell in love with a one off yellow gold and green sapphire ring shown on my website that had been already sold. I sourced a beautiful pear shape light green sapphire which they loved. We used silver samples to check the commission band width and size would work perfectly, as it is so important to get the size right the first time, to avoid re-sizing.

Unusual gold and blue sapphire wedding band
My client had followed my work for years, so when the time came to commission her engagement band, she was thrilled to visit my studio. After trying a range of handmade examples, she kept returning to my 18ct yellow gold chunky diamond band that first caught her eye. We customised the design by replacing the champagne diamonds with ethically sourced blue sapphires. The finished commission worked perfectly for her, and I loved how the design came together.

Diamond wedding bands
I had the pleasure of making engagement rings for Tony and his partner Sarah, and it was a real compliment when they returned for their handmade wedding bands. We based the design on a contemporary ring they loved from my website, adapting the details so their wedding rings are completely unique and personal to them.

Multi band green sapphire and diamond ring
My clients visited the studio on a very rainy day in Autumn to try several engagement rings. After drinking lots of tea and trying lots of rings, they decided on the very first ring they saw from the website, a multi band green sapphire and diamond ring. We changed the design to work for them, including the stone. They preferred a more mossy, lighter green colour, so I sourced a section of stones and emailed them images and details, so they could choose their favourite. They opted for the most stunning and unusual sapphire.
I wanted to send you a note to thank you so much for designing and creating such a gorgeous engagement ring. As I said I fell in love with your work when I saw it and the finished piece is even better than I could have imagined. The sapphire is beautiful and as you said changes colours in different lights. Diamond wedding ring
My client asked me to transform his grandfather’s chunky ring into a bespoke wedding band, reusing just one of the original diamonds. The redesigned ring is far more wearable and suited to his style, while still carrying the sentimental value and memories of the heirloom it came from.

Wedding and engagement stacking ringset with sapphire
My clients visited me in my studio to commission their handmade engagement and wedding rings. They were drawn to one of my contemporary ring designs they’d first discovered on my website, and they also fell in love with a beautiful sapphire from my own collection. I love how the platinum pairs with the warm champagne tones of the sapphire - and luckily, they did too.

White gold and diamond studs / earrings
I have made several pieces for my clients and have enjoyed working with them very much. When he asked me to make a pair of gold and diamonds earring as a surprise for his wife, I was so happy to come up with the design similar to these 18ct white gold and diamond studs, to compliment her other pieces.

My client spotted a multi linked silver and gold ring on my website that he really loved. He was keen to see it in person before making any decisions about whether it would work for him. After meeting in London he loved the design and commissioned me to make an all gold version.

Silver, gold and zircon two band ring
I met my client at a Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey and we chatted about using her own natural zircon stone in one of my designs for her daughter. I added a new little diamond and came up with a design which she loves. The inspiration for this jewellery commission was my silver, 18ct gold and green sapphire two band ring.

Wedding anniversary eternity ring
My clients were looking to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a platinum band to complement her own rings. They really liked my classic platinum eternity or wedding ring but needed it to be a little wider and deeper to sit perfectly along her other ring. Also they asked for 7 diamonds as that was a special number to them.

Yellow and white gold engagement and wedding ring with green sapphire
My clients visited my jewellery studio on their first trip out of London after lockdown, already drawn to one of my engagement ring designs they’d seen on Instagram. We refined the details together, and I sourced a green sapphire in the perfect shade and size for her. After choosing their favourite stone from photos and videos, we brought the final bespoke design to life - and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.

Three band yellow and white gold ring
My client and I worked by email to come up with a jewellery design that was a combination of various rings from my website. The ring, a three band, two tone ring, is really significant to her, in memory of her mum, holding together her and her family - with a lovely sparkly diamond to reflect her mum. A ring she will wear everyday and enjoy. She took inspiration from my 18ct yellow gold, 6 band ring the two ring (image above bottom left), and my palladium, yellow gold and diamond ring (image above top left).

Stacking engagement and Wedding rings
My clients visited my jewellery studio and we tried lots of designs and came up with a design for a chunky stacking engagement and wedding ring set, based on my pink sapphire and diamond rindset (below left). I sourced a beautiful pink sapphire very similar to the one the client fell in love with in the studio. However, no two stones are exactly the same, and for that reason, we decided she should have the stone she saw! I love the weight and feel of the ring set, and the large baby pink sapphire worked beautifully.
Thank you so, so much, the rings are absolutely stunning; I love them! They sit beautifully together; although the wedding band has now been stowed away until our wedding in July. My partner also says they're absolutely gorgeous! S
Contemporary ruby wedding ring
I first met this lovely couple at the Desire Fair in London, where he commissioned a one‑off stacking ringset as a birthday gift, inspired by my contemporary silver, 18ct gold and aquamarine design. Years later he returned to ask for a ruby ring to celebrate their ruby wedding anniversary. I sourced a beautiful oval ruby to contrast with the original pear‑shaped aquamarine, and it nestled perfectly into the existing stacking set. The aquamarine marks her March birthstone, the ruby celebrates 40 years of marriage, and my clients were delighted with how beautifully the rings work together.

Three band and looped diamond stacking wedding ring
I had the pleasure of having cup of tea in my contemporary jewellery studio with my clients to help choose a wedding ring for her. She spotted a ring she loved on my website, but wanted to combine it with a second ring she loved too. I mocked up a rough sample of the wedding ring for her to try at home, which she thought was perfect, and then I went on make it in silver 18ct white and yellow gold.

Pear shaped aquamarine and diamond ring
My client approached me to make a one off piece for her based on my unique, bespoke and contemporary aquamarine and diamond ring design which she fell in love with on my website (image on left). She wanted to include her own diamond. The final design included two white diamonds and a pear shape aquamarine, on a three band ring design (centre and right).

Palladium, diamond and tourmaline ringset
My client wanted a ring for his wife’s 40th birthday surprise gift. He really like my palladium, diamond and green tourmaline ringset (image on the left) but wanted a cornflower blue sapphire. I sourced a very special stone, and created this one-off ring (the commission is pictured centre and right).

My clients asked for a combination of my 18ct white and yellow gold two band ring (top left) and my two band modern 18ct gold ring with pave set diamonds ring (bottom left) to celebrate her wedding anniversary. The finished commission is on the right.

Stacking eternity and engagement rings
My client commissioned me to design a new eternity ring and engagement ring around her own wedding band (the central ring shown here). The final stack of three bands worked together beautifully, marring the widths and depth her wedding ring. She was delighted and is happily wearing them everyday.

Unusual wedding ring / band commission
My client was interested in commissioning an unusual wedding ring and spotted my unique Russian inspired wedding ring online. We meet in London and chatted though options and tried lots of different styles from my collection. We came up with a one-off commission just for her combining different coloured metals and the linked ring design she originally fell in love with. She was delighted!
Unique eternity and wide band white gold rings with diamonds
My clients spotted several rings they liked from my commissioning pages, and got in touch to work with me to make their own unique rings in 9ct white gold. The design was based on my 18ct gold diamond engagement ring, and my platinum and 18ct yellow gold pave set diamond engagement ring.
