This a busy week! I have been making orders and commissions with deadlines for birthdays and anniversaries looming, whilst finishing off the last few new pieces for The Contemporary Craft Fair, in Devon (8th-10th June 2018). This is such a lovely event; a mix of food, music, demonstration and talks, all in a beautiful corner or Devon. If you are in the Bovey Tracey area do come in and say hello!
The face behind the work! This was first thing in the morning after a lovely peaceful walk with the dog.
The colours of summer, we walk through fields of buttercups every morning at the moment and they just make me smile!
I've got a thing for orange and yellow at the moment!
Two more new contemporary rings, another yellow stone, this time a yellow beryl and a lovely dark blue aquamarine. Both beryl an aquamarine are from the same family of gemstone. Online soon.
Another ring just finished. This is a stunning emerald set into 18ct gold that really captured my imagination when I was selecting stones. Emerald is the birthstone for May, so perhaps fitting that I was working on this ring during the month of May!
I am also working on a new small range of wedding rings, simple clean, classic with a modern twist. This one will be coming along to The Craft Festival too.
I have everything crossed for a sunny and warm weekend ahead!
I am often asked for variations on one of my unique and modern jewellery designs. Recently a client tried my silver, gold and diamond three band ring (sgr05). After 30 years of marriage she wanted a modern alternative eternity ring, so I made a version in platinum and 18ct yellow gold, which she adores. Here is a little film I made before sending it off to it's new home. If you would like a unique, handmade and bespoke contemporary wedding, engagement or everyday ring then talk to Sue today to get the project started!
I recently had a quick stop at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, and caught the "Journeys with the Waste Land" exhibition and "Another time for Margate". The Antony Gormley sculpture really caught my imagination as I saw it framed through the large glass windows of the gallery.
I was reminded how much I enjoy small gallery spaces, it prevents me for being overloaded with culture, and not enjoying the experience quite so much. Well worth popping in if you are in the area! I only filmed and snapped a few moments, I wanted to enjoy the experience and see it through my eyes not those of the lense.
I've been busy these last few weeks getting some new contemporary jewellery up on to my website. There's new contemporary necklaces, and new contemporary engagement / every day / wedding rings ready for you to take a look :-)
I had a fabulous Open Studio, with lots of new and familiar clients visiting my Herefordshire studio. We drank tea and Prosecco and ate mince pies (made by my mum!) while chatting about commissions, choosing stones, deciding on wedding bands and just enjoying trying lots of jewellery. I wish I had taken photos during the day but it was just too busy. Thanks to my nephews Tom and James who helped serve drinks and demonstrate some bench skills too.
If you would like to find out about my next Open Studio, you have to sign up to my mailing list. Dates aren't published online, it is invitation only. Scroll right to the bottom of this page, add your email in the box and I'll let you know more details in the next few months. I only send 4/5 max throughout the year and you can unsubscribe at anytime!
