This a busy week! I have been making orders and commissions with deadlines for birthdays and anniversaries looming, whilst finishing off the last few new pieces for The Contemporary Craft Fair, in Devon (8th-10th June 2018). This is such a lovely event; a mix of food, music, demonstration and talks, all in a beautiful corner or Devon. If you are in the Bovey Tracey area do come in and say hello!
The face behind the work! This was first thing in the morning after a lovely peaceful walk with the dog.
The colours of summer, we walk through fields of buttercups every morning at the moment and they just make me smile!
I've got a thing for orange and yellow at the moment!
Two more new contemporary rings, another yellow stone, this time a yellow beryl and a lovely dark blue aquamarine. Both beryl an aquamarine are from the same family of gemstone. Online soon.
Another ring just finished. This is a stunning emerald set into 18ct gold that really captured my imagination when I was selecting stones. Emerald is the birthstone for May, so perhaps fitting that I was working on this ring during the month of May!
I am also working on a new small range of wedding rings, simple clean, classic with a modern twist. This one will be coming along to The Craft Festival too.
I have everything crossed for a sunny and warm weekend ahead!
Another busy week here in my Herefordshire studio. Orders and commissions are being finished while new pieces are being created ready for my next show, Contemporary Craft Festival, Bovey Tracey, Devon, in just a few weeks.
There is so much to inspire me at the moment while out and about. When I walk the dog I always enjoy photographing things that catch my eye. The action of looking and recording really helps focus my mind. However, I do alway make sure at least half of the walk is just me and the dog, not recording; just taking in the scent of the fields and woodland, the feel of the land and the colours that are all around.
Two rings photographed togther, top is a four band 18ct gold ring with a row of beautiful bright sparkly diamonds - £3200 and the bottom ring is a beautiful pink sapphire two band ring - £2900
Early morning walk through the fields of mowing grass
Using the things I find while walking to inspire what I might make during the day in the studio.
Simple leaf inspired necklace in gold created to be worn and enjoyed.
Clover leaves with morning dew
New gold and silver leaf ring that I finished this week ready for The Contemporary Craft Festival in Devon, come along and say hello!
Close up detail of a dandelion seed head. We all imagine the perfect seed head, and they are beautiful, however over time they each take on their own unique formulation. I loved looking at each one and seeing how they loose their seeds.
I wondered this week while out walking the dog, which I preferred most; the fresh bright potential filled morning walk or the laid back reflective walk in the evening sunset. There was so answer, I love both.
There is always so much inspiration to take while walking the dog. Most mornings and evenings we walk through fields of mowing grass, woodland, footpaths and county lanes. Everyday there is something new, from the wild grasses to the first dandelion appearing to the buttercups and cow parsley bursting up from nowhere.
I have made many variations over the years of this classic design, the "Russian" style wedding ring. I love the symbolism of the bands permanently linked togther while retaining the movement. A recent client also recognised the symbolism in my design and chose me to make a ring for her to reflect her family and to mark the beginning of a new era. I was touched, and delighted to play a small part in the process. I photographed the process so she could see each stage, and thought I would share the pics here too.
