On 10th May Craig and Sian joined me to make their wedding rings. Using 18k white gold and 9k white gold, they made beautiful rings for each other.

On 8th May I was joined by Charlotta and Gerry to make their own wedding rings. They did a fantastic job making each other wedding rings. It was a great day and here are some images from their day.

On 2nd May, Holly and Tom joined me to make their own wedding rings. Tom made Holly’s 2mm ring and Holly made Tom’s 6mm ring. We had a lovely day together and the rings are beautifully finished – both were delighted with the results. I have since had a lovely email from them, which I hope they won’t mind me sharing with you!

“Tom and I just wanted to drop you a email to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed the wedding ring workshop! It was such a wonderful day and, we both agreed, was probably the best thing we’ve done so far in the wedding planning process. We would thoroughly recommend it to everyone who is getting married…. and we actually have! The rings have turned out better than we could’ve hoped and we’re absolutely chuffed to bits. Tom has actually had to hide them somewhere in the flat because I kept taking them out to look at! Eek! But of course, it wouldn’t have been half as fun if it weren’t for such a lovely teacher! It was such a pleasure meeting you and working with you for the day. We’ll send over a picture or two of us wearing the rings on our wedding day!”

Silver and 18k gold and diamond ring

I am exhibiting at The Harlery Gallery, in their “60 Diamonds” exhibition from 18th April – 10th June. This is a exhibition to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The Harley Gallery have exhibited my work for over 11 years, and so it is a pleasure to be able to show with them again.

Another show coming soon is with the Bowie Gallery at The Hay Festival. This one is in the grounds of the Hay Festival for the duration of the event, 31st May – 10th June.

The next local Arts Market in Hereford is 9th June. 9am-5pm in the centre of High Town. Get in touch if you would like more details.

On Tuesday 24th April David and Carrie-Ann joined me to make their own wedding rings. Working in platinum and palladium they worked hard, and finished the day with two lovely rings. Here are some images from their day in the studio.

Stone Setting Workshop

On 21st April 2012 Georgina Franklin taught a stone setting workshop in my studio, with myself offering a helping hand. We had a very good day with some ambitious rings made. All students had some previous experience, which allowed them to work on projects a little more complicated. Kerry made two rings using claw settings. She did a brilliant job of making the round claw setting which involved lots of very delicate soldering. Bridget used 18k gold to make her rub over settings, something she had not done before and was quite nervous about. Finally Heather – who has lots of making experience – wanted to polish up her skills and learn different ways to set. She set a very deep stone into the band in an unusual way, including learning how to forge the ring to a tapered edge.

We were all delighted with the final results, with thanks going to Georgina for that final tweak!

On Wednesday 4th April, Georgina and I hosted a setting workshop for a group of three friends. Su, Nicki and Andy met at jewellery evening classes so have a good basic level of silversmithing skills, so we tailored the day to their ability. The day was really relaxed and enjoyed by everyone. Georgina demonstrated the processes involved with setting faceted stones, tube setting and making the setting from bezel wire. They then got started with making their setting, soldering it to the ring and finally setting and finishing it to a high standard. Here are some images from the day.

On Wednesday 27th March, Joe and Bailey spent a day with me in the studio making their own wedding rings. They made each others rings, which was tough for Bailey because Tom’s ring was 18k white gold and 6mm wide. Joe had different problems, Bailey has tiny fingers, which for his large hands made everything quite difficult to hold. They were both determined to remove every last mark from the rings, and their hard work paid off; the rings are beautiful!

“My Little Wedding Shop” photo shoot

Several years ago I made wedding rings for a lovely couple and the bride, Jenny, recently got in touch again. It was lovely to hear from her and hear that she has opened her own shop in Bridgnorth “My Little Wedding Shop”. It looks really lovely, and very welcoming too!

I was delighted when she ask me to supply some pieces of jewellery for a photo shoot she organised to promote her own work and that of the designers whose work Jenny sells. The images are beautiful, and everyone that took part did a fantastic job.
