On Friday 22nd July I held a ring making workshop. With just two students we could spend time doing a variety of things. Annie, who has been on quite a few courses – so can make well – made wedding ring for friends in 18k rose gold. Clare wanted to try lots of different techniques to get a good feel for working in silver. Both did an amazing job, and made brilliant rings. Here are some images from the day.

Clare using metal stamps to add letters to the inside of the ring.

Using the letter punches.

Annie cutting through the smaller of the two rings.

Clare soldering the ring.

Once the ring is soldered, Clare applied a hammered finish to the ring.

Filing to clean up the joint.

Clare made some small jump rings, hammered them, and soldered them to the top of the ring.

Annie's finished gold rings!

Clare's finished ring, a perfect project for someone just beginning; it includes so many simple, lovely techniques.

In the final 45 minutes Annie whipped up this little silver ring to sit alongside the larger ring she had made before.
