I am committed to making jewellery and working towards exhibtions and shows during the second half my the year.

Silver and bead necklace
Time: 10am – 4pm. Cost: £80 – Price does not include any metal, you can buy on the day or bring your own.
Today is a chance for students to work on individual projects in silver or gold and it covers all levels of ability. We do have emphasis on claw setting and beading, but of course you can work on other projects if you wish. If you wish to try claw setting you can work on a range of faceted stones in different shapes to practise the technique or use one setting to make a ring. If you would like to try beading, you will have time to make a small silver pendant, then learn how to use beads for the necklace.
If you have a particular project in mind you can talk to Sue prior to the day, to ensure it is possible to complete in the time available, or you can follow one of the many examples Sue and Georgina will provide. If you would like a particular colour stone or beads do get in touch prior to the class to ensure we have what you need in stock.

Using silver you will learn how to texture the surface of sheet using heat to give a very natural almost moon like surface, and then different ways of shaping and finishing to bring out the texture further. Also you will learn how to fuse silver to silver in a simple way with no solder. (If you took part in the fusing workshop in 2008 with Wally Gilbert this is a different simpler method and therefore gives different results). You can choose to make your piece with either reticulation or fusing or combine the two on one project. Earrings or a pendant would be ideal for this project.
Time: 10am – 4pm. Cost: £90. Includes £7 silver.
Today’s project will be to make a simple contemporary locket or small box with a hinged lid. Incorporating using a fly press to create the shapes – a really interesting process, which gives impressive results quickly, and then how to make a simple hinge, and finish the piece by polishing or matting. Today will require you to follow one of the samples made by Bronwyn, though this still allows for creativity. This course is suitable for all levels of ability – even beginners.
